The Day We Looked Beneath the Masks

As the days of “Find Your Tribe” continue in Riga, the connections within the group are becoming deeper, more honest, and more meaningful. This day was not about speaking louder, it was about listening more carefully: to ourselves, to others, and to the spaces around us.

The morning began with a warm Cypriot breakfast that brought participants together around culture, conversation, and shared experience. Afterward, we moved into our familiar Rise & Recharge session and daily Community Building Circle, grounding ourselves before entering one of the most personal and reflective days of the project so far.

The emotional center of the day was the workshop “Upcycled Identity Masks.” Using recycled materials, fabrics, colors, and symbols, participants were invited to create masks representing the parts of themselves they show to the world, the emotions they hide, or the identities they are still discovering. The room became quiet, filled only with music, concentration, and silent reflection.

What made this activity powerful was its freedom. There was no pressure to explain, no expectation to perform vulnerability, and no “right way” to participate. Some participants shared long personal reflections. Others simply held up their masks in silence. In that moment, everyone understood something important: honesty does not always need words.

The workshop created space for emotional expression beyond conversation, reminding us that creativity can often communicate what language cannot.

Later in the day, the group stepped outside the training environment and into a different kind of learning experience. Guided by one of the participants, we visited a local church in Riga, not as a religious activity, but as an exploration of how sacred and peaceful spaces can influence human connection and community. Participants reflected on silence, atmosphere, architecture, and the feeling of being fully present in a shared environment.

The visit opened meaningful discussions about the importance of safe spaces in our lives, places where people can pause, reflect, feel accepted, and reconnect with themselves or others. For many participants, it became a reminder that community is not always built through constant activity or conversation. Sometimes, it is built through quiet presence.

At the same time, the energy shifted through Mind Games and logic-based team challenges. Participants worked together to solve puzzles that initially seemed impossible. However, as ideas started flowing and communication improved, teams realized that different perspectives were not obstacles, they were strengths. Every person approached problems differently, and it was exactly this diversity of thinking that allowed groups to move forward together.

The laughter continued during Blind Drawing, an activity full of confusion, creativity, terrible sketches, and unexpected teamwork. Behind the humor, participants practiced trust, listening, patience, and collaboration in a relaxed and playful way.

We closed the evening with our daily Community Building Circle and dinner, reflecting on everything the day had brought: vulnerability, silence, creativity, challenge, trust, and connection.

What did participants discover on Day 4?

• Vulnerability can exist quietly and still be deeply courageous

• Community is built not only through talking, but through presence and understanding

• Safe and sacred spaces can help people reconnect with themselves and others

• Different ways of thinking make groups stronger, more creative, and more resilient

The impact of the day could be felt clearly within the group. Little by little, emotional walls are lowering. Participants are becoming more open, more supportive, and more connected with one another.
